Sri Lanka is not only the defending champions of ICC T20 world cup 2016 but they are also the number 1 team in ICC T20 rankings. They defeated India in the final of ICC T20 world cup 2014. Apart from that, Sri Lanka also remained runner up in the 2009 and 2012 T20 world cups. They also reached the semifinal in 2010 ICC T20 world cup. So far they have played 31 matches in 5 T20 world cups. They won 21 matches and lost 9 while their winning percentage is 69.35% which is best among all the teams. These statistics shows that Sri Lanka is the best T20 team and they can retain their T20 title in the ICC T20 world cup 2016.


Famous fast bowler Lasith Malinga is the captain of Sri Lankan T20 team while other bowlers and all rounders in the team are T Perera, J Mendis, T Dilshan, S Senanayake, D Prasad, N Kulasekara, R Herath and Ajantha Mendis. Top batsmen of Sri Lankan T20 team are Upul Tharanga, L Thirimanne, Jehan Mubarak and Dinesh Chandimal. All these players are perfectly capable to take their team to a consecutive T20 world cup victory in ICC T20 world cup 2016.
